Job Profile- Full time Mom!

I hear this question often. Do I work somewhere? My answer is a BIG YES!! That too fulltime 24/7 non stop. What my salary is like? Tangibly nothing. But actually the my salary amount is so huge that I cannot measure is. Unconditional Love by my baby is my SALARY. I am in absolute love with my job. I believe raising a child is the toughest  but the highest paid job on Earth.

I am going to share some of my experience and advice:

  • Baby Care- Initial 1 year is very crucial for the baby. Take utmost care of baby during his/her first winter and summer. In winters, try to keep feet and hands covered. You can get these readymade mittens from market to cover hands. If baby catches cold, just take few drops of mustard oil(sarso ka tel) and rub on your palms and gently massage on baby's chest. Cover the chest. This works wonder in summer. Avoid medications as much as possible. In summers, keep baby in comfortable loose fitting cotton cloths. You can buy bodysuits while you go out. At home cloth nappies are the best.
  • Baby Food- Breast milk is best for the baby. Try to avoid giving powdered milk available in the market. Not only does breast milk  helps fight against many infections but it also helps you loose weight. So double benefit! Do not give anything( not even water) till the baby is 5-6 months old. Consult your pediatric before starting giving water or mashed food. After the pediatric advises you to start liquid food, you can slowly start with water and Daal ka pani. You can also start with rice cerelac.
  • Baby Sleep- One of the most difficult problem is to put baby to sleep. Isn't it? One of the most important point to remember is that babies thrive on routine. A fixed sleep routine helps a lot. Babies are tiny soul but very clever. Start the routine with a gentle massage with olive oil or any good baby oil(Himalaya baby oil is good). You can play lullaby for the baby. Keep the ambience light and relaxed. No fun frolic activities(masti) before sleep. You can also read a story. Dim the lights. Gently lay the baby in the crib or bed(if you co-sleep). Give a Good night kiss and you too can lay down with the baby so that he/ she gets a message that its time to go to sleep.
  • Baby Shopping- One of the most exciting but tedious part of being a parent is Kid's shopping. If you want to go for daily ware and comfortable stuff which is not very heavy on your pocket, then you can go for Reliance Trendz, Max and Westside. Online Shopping is one of the best way you can shop . Some of the good websites for baby stuff are- www. firstcry.com (my favourite as it has value for money stuff), http://www.babyoye.com/ , http://www.hopscotch.in/ (Classy stuff but lil expensive). You can also checkout www.flipkart.com, snapdeal.com, jabong.com.
